ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

SOUTHERN BLACK THEATRE KID

I am Amiah McGinty (she/her), a multi-hyphenate Black woman storyteller based in New York. I hail from Augusta Georgia, a community that nurtured my love for storytelling and inspired me to leave my hometown to attend the illustrious Howard University (HU! You Know). I studied at Howard's Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Acting (summa cum laude) and a minor in Psychology. My tenure at Howard exposed me to aspects of theatre-making beyond performance and ignited a love for directing, producing, and arts administration. My aspirations as a theatre-maker coupled with my passion for new work development, artistic programming, multidisciplinary curation, and community building have led me to opportunities and collaborations such as serving as the Podcast Development Intern at Monkeypaw Productions, New York Theatre Workshop’s 2023-2024 Artistic Workshop Fellow, Directing Fellow for Broadway’s Hell’s Kitchen, and Co-Producer of the HBCU Sing Series in collaboration with Black Girls Do Theater and 54 Below.
